Historic Jesus
Resurrection

The bringing back to life of the entire body and spirit of a person who has died. During his ministry, Jesus raised the son of the widow of Nain, the daughter of Jairus, and Lazarus. Jesus himself was raised from the dead after being crucified and buried in the tomb that Joseph of Arimathea provided. Although the Sadducees denied the possibility of bodily resurrection, most Jews at the time of Jesus accepted some idea of resurrection.
