Isaiah

A prophet who lived in Jerusalem and prophesied during the reigns of King Uzziah (790-739 B. C.), King Jotham (739-731 B. C.), King Ahaz (735-715 B. C.), and King Hezekiah (715-686 B. C.). According to tradition, he was related to the royal family. He prophesied during momentous days during which the existence of Judah was threatened by the Assyrian Empire. He was able to strengthen King Hezekiah to resist the invading Assyrian army. Many of Isaiah's writings are Messianic in character, pointing to the future deliverance of the nation by the Lord.
